The 1st edition of the Observatory of French Mobility Startups, produced jointly by the Moove Lab and Roland Berger, has found and confirmed the key role of EIT Urban Mobility in the French mobility ecosystem.

For the second year in a row, EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, has been recognised as the leading foreign investor in French mobility startups. The organisation is once again ranked as the second most influential investor in the sector, just after Bpifrance, illustrating its commitment to financing the mobility transition.

In welcoming this recognition of EIT Urban Mobility’s significant role in the investment in and development of mobility solutions in France, Daniel Serra, Director of Impact Ventures at EIT Urban Mobility, commented on the importance of the French ecosystem in the European context: "The dynamic urban mobility ecosystem in France is a strategic priority for EIT Urban Mobility. Since 2022, we have been investing in French startups, accelerating their growth in Europe. By strengthening the link between EIT Urban Mobility and French innovative players, we are boosting the sector's European competitiveness. "

This is a result of the work carried out in 2024, as EIT Urban Mobility invested in six innovative French startups, bringing its total investments in 13 startups since 2022 to the value €13 million.

Among the beneficiaries of these investments are:

  • DeepVolt, which develops solutions for optimising energy consumption and storage to support the transition to more sustainable mobility.

  • Everimpact, who specialise in measuring and monetising CO₂ emissions to support local authorities and companies in the ecological transition.

  • Futurail, the AI startup seeking to optimise rail traffic management and improve the safety and efficiency of passenger and freight transportation.

  • Fluctuo, a specialist in the aggregation and analysis of micromobility data to facilitate the integration of shared mobility solutions in cities.

  • Floware, seeking to improve the management of transport flows and optimise the operation of urban mobility infrastructure with the use of AI.

  • Voltaage.io, who are focusing on optimising charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

In addition to targeted investments, EIT Urban Mobility has been able to forge partnerships with influential players in the sector, such as the collaboration with the Moove Lab since 2022, which allows it to develop new synergies and offer valuable business development opportunities. Bout, a Finnish startup in the EIT Urban Mobility portfolio, a platform that connects people boat operators with potential customers, is a prime example. As a result of the collaboration with the Moove Lab and EIT Urban Mobility, Bout has been able to establish itself in France by offering its services to cities located along the Seine, such as Troyes, Paris, Rouen and Le Havre.

These actions illustrate EIT Urban Mobility's continued involvement in the French and European sustainable mobility ecosystem. With a confirmed commitment for 2025, the organisation reaffirms its commitment to supporting the innovations that will shape the mobility of tomorrow.
